Fan falls from second deck at Rangers game

A fan fell 30 feet after trying to catch a foul ball in the fifth inning at a Texas Rangers baseball game late Tuesday.

The man tumbled over a second deck railing and fell to the field level seats at the Rangers' stadium said a spokesman for the Rangers. The man's name has not been released.

"The fall could have easily killed the guy," Derek Dilday, an off-duty paramedic, told CNN. Dilday was one of the first people to come to the man's aid.

The man fell onto four other fans, causing minor injuries to them, John Blake said. They were treated in the first aid area at the stadium but were not taken to the hospital, the statement said.

Television cameras did not capture the fall, but did show the reactions of horrified baseball players and fans immediately following the incident.

Before being transported to the hospital, the man appeared to move around, but Dilday told CNN the medics kept him stationary. There was "no blood at all," and the man "appeared to be fine," Dilday said.

The incident caused a 16 minute delay as medical personnel attended to the man. The Rangers beat the Cleveland Indians 12-1.
