Tiger Woods shoots 68 in his return to golf at the Masters - UPDATE

Tiger Woods shot a 4-under par and is two shots out of the lead after the first round of the Masters in Augusta, Ga., his first competitive round of golf in 144 days and his lowest first round ever in the tournament.

Fifty-year-old Fred Couples is the first-round leader after a seven birdie, one bogey round of 6-under 66.

Five golfers, including 60-year-old Tom Watson, Phil Mickelson and England's Lee Westwood are a shot back at 67. K.J. Choi, who played with Woods, and 2009 PGA Championship winner Y.E. Yang of Korea round out the group at 5-under.

Tied with Woods at 4-under are Anthony Kim, who won last week's Houston Open, Nick Watney, England's Ian Poulter and Ricky Barnes.

Woods had a solid day. He missed several makeable putts and could easily have shot 65 or 66.

His round included three birdies, three bogeys and two eagles, both of them on par 5s.

Even-par after seven holes, Woods finished his front nine with an eagle at the 570-yard eighth hole and a birdie at the 460-yard ninth hole.

Woods lost a shot with a bogey at the par-4 10th hole, got it back with a birdie at the par-5 13th, lost a shot at the par-4 14th, then finished eagle, par, par, par to complete his round.
