Former Notre Dame High School football coach Dave Brown will be recommended as the Liberty High School football coach at the next school board meeting

Former Notre Dame High School football coach Dave Brown will be recommended as the Liberty High School football coach at the next school board meeting, according to several sources close to the situation.

The next Bethlehem Area School Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 26. A vote on the new football coach is expected to be on the agenda.

Brown, a 40-year-old health and physical education teacher at Liberty, was an assistant last season under former coach Tim Moncman.

Moncman resigned last month after a highly successful 10-year stint that included three trips to the PIAA Class AAAA championship game and a state title in 2008.

Brown previously went 10-20 in three seasons at Notre Dame.

Brown declined comment on his possible appointment. Liberty athletic director Sam Senneca could not be reached for comment Monday evening.

Brown and several other candidates, including former Phillipsburg assistant Ryan Ditze, reportedly interviewed for the position last week. Brown said last month he was interested in the opening.
