NAZARETH CENTER FOR THE ARTS SCHEDULE

Greetings!

February resulted in a lot of rescheduling of shows - let's hope the winter weather is behind us!

We have some great shows coming up and look forward to seeing you at one soon. You can also help the Center and support the artists by forwarding this newsletter to friends and family!

Poetry - All Ages. Enjoy a night of poetry readings – selected and presented by you! Read your favorite poems, your own original work, and listen to others’ selections.

March 19, 2010 | 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Craig Thatcher & Nyke Van Wyk. Craig Thatcher and Nyke Van Wyk will perform an acoustic show featuring guitar and violin. Violinist Nyke Van Wyk is best known for fusing a unique blend of traditional and modern styles with enormous energy within any venue he performs! Classically trained, Nyke broadened his style by studying traditional Celtic/Irish, then rock, R&B, and Jazz.

Guitarist Craig Thatcher is the first return performer at the Center, having played on January 31 to a standing room only crowd with Dick Boak. Thatcher founded the renowned and award winning Craig Thatcher Band, he established the Eric Clapton Retrospective, and he performs with Simone, daughter of song stylist and pianist Nina Simone.

March 27, 2010 | 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. & 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Magic Mike. Lehigh Valley based, Magic Mike has performed all over the world. His start in the business came in college, Mike became the most requested waiter at the Olive Garden in Easton when he started doing magic at tables for kids. Eventually they took him off the floor and had him doing strolling magic permanently. It was then a Continental Airline recruiter saw him and for eight years he performed for the airline on planes. "The question I am asked most frequently is ‘Does magic really exist?’ I can honestly reply... yes!"

April 2010

April 10, 2010 | 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
The Little Red Rooster Band. Founded back in 1988 the band has successfully developed their own sound through interpretations of traditional Chicago Blues and West Coast Jump Blues. Over the years the band has consistently performed their high energy brand of blues in many renowned clubs and festivals. Their performance mission is simple: To entertain and leave them hungry for more.

April 14, 2010 | 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Open Jam Session. Bring your instrument and come out to play solo or with others! Spectators welcome!

Gabe Toth. Singer and pianist, Gabe Toth returns to the Nazareth Center for the Arts for a night featuring a range of popular songs across several eras and genres.

April 17, 2010 | 7:00 & 9:00 p.m.

The Large Flowerheads will enthusiastically bring to life the musical sights and sounds of the 60s for two shows. See the band that keeps packing venues with happy people. Experience the 60s songs that make you feel so good.

April 24, 2010 | 8:00 - 9:30 p.m.

Soundscapes Music Series featuring Twyndyllyngs and Technicolor Travel Agency.

SOUNDSCAPES features Electronic, Ambient and Spacemusic. There are many reasons for starting this concert series, not the least of which is to bring the music heard on Galactic Travels to the area in a comfortable, friendly and relaxed concert setting. This also has the byproduct of providing valuable performance opportunities to the musicians who put so much energy into their craft. This is their chance to step out of the relative safety of their studios and connect with the fans of electronic music.

May 2010

May 15, 2010 | 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Kids for America. A special Armed Forces Day show with donations supporting local military families and the Center.

May 20, 2010 | 5:00 - 8:30 p.m.

The Center will host a Chamber of Commerce mixer from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., and a performance by Trevor Gordan Hall will follow. Guitar virtuoso and Revel recording artist, Trevor Gordan Hall, brings his unique, 'experiential' sound to the Nazareth Center for the Arts. Trevor’s pieces range in sound from edgy, driving rhythms to sweet melodic phrases, and yet each piece sends the listener on a journey and promotes a sense of inspiration and peace.
