Randy Cruz and Kyle Dehaut of Bethlehem Catholic have the chance to realize every high school wrestler's dream Saturday when they wrestle for a PIAA Class AA state championship.
Cruz defeated Colt Cotten of Benton, 9-2 in the semifinals at 112 pounds. Cruz, now 37-5, wrestles David White of Athens, 44-3, for the title.
Dehaut defeated Travis McKillop of Burrell, 7-6 in an exciting semifinal. Now 37-6, Dehaut faces freshman Cody Wiercioch of Charleroi, 37-1, in the championship bout at 152 pounds. Wiercioch's only loss this season was to McKillop in the WPIAL Championships.
The Class AA championship bouts begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey.
Ten Class AAA wrestlers from the Express-Times area advanced through their quarterfinal bouts today and will wrestle in the semifinal round beginning at 8 a.m.
Easton has three wrestlers in the semifinals, Liberty and Northampton two each, Nazareth, Parkland and Whitehall one each.
