EASTON WRESTLING

Mark Hartenstine won a championship at 140 pounds and Mitch Minotti finished second at 130 pounds in tonight's finals of the Reno Tournament of Champions wrestling tournament.

Hartenstine and Minotti led a group of six Easton Area High School wrestlers who reached the quarterfinals.

Evan Disora (103) captured fifth place after reaching the semifinal, and Joey Rizzolino, who also fell in his semifinal match, took fifth place in the 135-pound consolation bracket.

The top-seeded Hartenstine recorded a 15-0 technical fall over Brandon Pesarchick at 4:23 in the quarterfinals. The senior defeated Jake Briggs of Bella Vista High School with a 7-2 decision to reach the final. Hartenstine faced second-seeded Nathan Hoffer of East Anchor High School in the championship match.

Minotti then defeated Jordan Toledo of Pleasant Valley, the second seed, by a 3-2 decision. The third-seeded sophomore faced top-seeded Louis Truiillo of Rio Rancho in the 130-pound championship.

The Red Rovers began the day tied with Poway High School for the lead in the team standings. Easton is vying for its eighth team title in the tournament's 15-year existence.

Phillipsburg, Pen Argyl and Parkland are among 36 teams taking part in the 2009 King of the Mountain Tournament at Central Mountain High School in Mill Hall, Pa.

Phillipsburg's Oliver Brukhardt, Parkland's Mike Ottinger and Pen Argyl's Mike Racciato reached the semifinals.
