Perdue announced Wednesday that it would be closing its Booth Creek Natural Chicken plant, Fredericksburg, Lebanon County, by March 14, resulting in the loss of 650 jobs.
According to a press release from Perdue Farms, the Salisbury, Md.-based owner, the company needed to consolidate production and is closing the plant because of its capacity and age. Lester Gray, senior vice president of operations for Perdue, said in a statement that the upgrades would be too costly.
