FROM KEITH GROLLER
Ann Marie Surovy, the dynamo in charge of the annual LifePath & Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants' (PICPA) Thanksgiving benefit and awards luncheon every November in Fogelsville, works fast.
Even with some people still not having taken down their Christmas decorations, Surovy has secured this year's keynote speaker for the banquet on Thanksgiving eve, Nov. 26.
Baseball fans will be delighted because it's Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer.
Perhaps some females who remember his famous underwear ads, will also be excited.
Palmer, who won 268 games and recorded 2,212 strikeouts, all for the Baltimore Orioles between 1965-1984, is coming to the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Fogelsville.
The three-time Cy Young Award winner and six-time all-star joins a list of stellar sports personalities that includes Bill Walton, Johnny Bench, Mike Ditka, Dick Vermeil, Mike Schmidt and this past November's speaker, Herman Edwards.
Palmer, who is still an Orioles broadcaster and had a lengthy stint in ABC's baseball broadcast booth after his retirement, figures to be an excellent speaker.
Palmer will inspire and motivate with lessons learned throughout his storied baseball career and through his current role as the father of a son with autism.
