The following programs are planned across the region to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
ALLENTOWN | The Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St., is marking Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a special program 1 p.m. Jan. 20, Executive Director Joseph Garrera announced.
On display at the museum will be an extremely rare first edition of King’s 1958 book “Stride Toward Freedom,” signed by King and authenticated by three national experts. The book is King’s account of the Montgomery Bus Boycott that took place from Dec. 1, 1955, to Dec. 21, 1956.
Normally closed Mondays, the museum will be open special hours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 20. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children; members are free.
