Mackey McKnight made a strong bid to be the hero this afternoon.
Ultimately, it was his counterpart, D.J. Irving, who had the last say.
Irving,
a senior guard and the Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year,
made two free throws with 1.9 seconds left to lead the Boston University
men’s basketball team to a gut-wrenching 67-66 league victory over Lehigh at Stabler Arena.
The
Terriers (9-6 overall, 2-0 league), the league's unanimous preseason
favorite, led most of the way before McKnight scored eight straight to
give the Mountain Hawks a brief 66-65 lead with 7.4 seconds remaining.
