FROM KEITH GROLLER

Former Salisbury softball coach Brian Covely is the new Lincoln Leadership Academy softball coach.
Athletic director Dave George sent out a release announcing that Covely and and LV Softball Hall of Famer Dave Bilger have come aboard as coaches.
Covely was 15-85 over five seasons, including 3-17 last year.
"Lincoln Leadership is truly ecstatic to have both of these gentlemen join our family and serve as coaches/mentors to our young ladies," George said in the release. "Coach Covely and Coach Bilger met with the girls for the first time yesterday (October 31st).  The kids are excited to learn from coaches with nearly 100 years of playing and coaching experience.  It was exciting to see the coaches interact with the kids.  Coach Bilger was in the cafeteria teaching mechanics to our pitcher and senior captain, Sophia Gordon.  He didn't even know her name yet."
"We hope for good things this upcoming season.  Coach Covely has 13 girls returning with varsity experience.  This includes pitcher - Sophia Gordon (12), 3rd base -Natasha Ortiz (12), 1st base - Aniyah Nieves (10) - 2013 team MVP, shortstop - Selina Ortiz (11), outfielder - Marielas Taveras (11), outfielder - Michelle Cesar (11), outfielder - Ashley Helena (11) and catcher - Shiday Richetti (10)."
At the same time, George wanted to extend a thank you on behalf ofLincoln Leadership to last year's  interim head softball coach, Brittni Kholi and her assistant. Taylor Mastrianni.
"These ladies are already part of the Lincoln family," George said. "Coach Taylor is our head girls basketball coach and Brit is her assistant. Basically, the ladies flipped titles and ran our softball program on an interim basis last season.  This speaks volumes to their dedication and selflessness to the girls and Lincoln Leadership Academy.  Both ladies played in high school (Brit at Dieruff and Taylor at Saucon Valley).  It made for an easy transition from basketball to softball season."
