At least Lehigh Valley-area softball fans who want to follow the remaining teams in the PIAA softball tournament, won't have to travel far on Thursday.
Bethlehem Catholic is headed to Lyons in Berks County, near Topton -- about a half-hour's drive from Allentown and probably 50 minutes from Becahi -- for its PIAA 3A quarterfinal round game against either Nazareth Academy or Franklin Towne Charter. That game is set for 1 p.m. because Becahi has its graduation at night.
Pen Argyl and Brandwyine, as expected, at Pates and that game will be the first of a tripleheader at Pates.
The second game at 3 will feature another 2A quarterfinal between District 2's Holy Redeemer and either Pequea Valley of District 3 or District 12 champ Conwell Egan. The winner of that game will play the winner of the Pen Argyl-Brandywine game on Monday in the state semis.
The third game at 5 at Pates will feature a 3A quarterfinal between District 2's Valley View and either Twin Valley of District 3 or Prendergast-Bonner of District 12.
