With the US Open set to begin today, 6ABC is aleady looking ahead to the next big thing in Philadelphia sports -- the start of the Chip Kelly Era with the Eagles.
6ABC will televise all four of the Eagles preseason games, beginning with the Aug. 9 game against Tim Tebow and the Patriots.
And then because the first game on Sept. 9 is a Monday nighter on ESPN, still considered a cable channel, 6ABC had the option of picking that one up from its Disney family partner.
6ABC also picked up what could be the most-anticipated game of this, and many seasons, the return of Andy Reid to the Linc on Thursday, Sept. 19 when the Eagles play the Chiefs. That game will be televised nationally by The NFL Network.

Philadelphia, Pa. (June 11, 2013) – A new coach. A new team. All new excitement! The most eagerly awaited Eagles season in years will kick off on 6abc -- the official broadcast station of the Philadelphia Eagles. 6abc will broadcast all four preseason games, plus the Eagles season opener vs. the Redskins on September 9th, and the much-anticipated Andy Reid homecoming on September 19th, when the birds battle the Chiefs. 6abc will also again be home to 4 exclusive Eagles programs that offer unmatched insight into the team! "We expect a lot of interest in that first preseason game vs. the Patriots. Everyone is curious to see how the team looks under the new coaching staff." The August 9th contest against the Patriots kicks off at 7p.m., with an Action News preseason special, followed by a 7:30 p.m. game time. 6abc is also home to exclusive Eagles Television Network (ETN) programs that will satisfy even the most fanatical birds fan. 6abc’s legacy postgame highlights show,
Eagles Football Frenzy, will return with the Action News Sports team of Ducis Rodgers, Jamie Apody and Jeff Skversky. Each week, the show will feature exclusive interviews with Eagles head coach, Chip Kelly, and wide receiver great, Mike Quick!
