Frank McCarroll will coach Palmerton over the rest of the season

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Palmerton athletic director Andrew Remsing said by e-mail earlier today that Frank McCarroll will be the Blue Bombers boys basketball coach for the rest of the season. McCarroll was an assistant on Mick Stefanek's staff. Stefanek resigned on Wednesday, citing various reasons that included a parental issue, just four games into the season. It is the second time in three seasons that Palmerton will undergo a coaching change in the middle of the season. McCarroll, actually, had coached the team in Tuesday's loss to Northwestern. McCarroll told the Lehighton Times-News after that game: "I was taken by surprise. I was told to coach. I have no idea. I don't know if it's just for tonight. I don't know." McCarroll is the brother of Jim McCarroll, the Pocono Mountain West football coach and an uncle to Tom McCarroll who recently completed his first season in charge of the Lehighton football team. Frank McCarroll is a Tamaqua graduate, having played for Ed Wise in the mid-1980s. Remsing also said that there are no plans to postpone games due to the coaching change. Palmerton is scheduled to play Pen Argyl in a home game on Friday night.
