TV NEWS ON OCTOBER 7

http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2012/10/week-2-tv-ratings-and-analysis-how.html 2012-13 Week 2 TV Ratings (first four nights, Mon-Thu): Households: N/A. Total Viewers: N/A. Adults 18-49: N/A. Week 2 (Oct. 1-7) Analysis: We're already into the second week of the all-new TV season and it looks like it will fly by again this season. We don't have the final first four nights averages for week two for you, but we do have final program ratings for these first four nights. So look for that in our analysis and how the sitcoms did below. We can project that through the first four nights, CBS has the lead in all categories but it is very close. ABC is likely in second in HH/viewers and probably third in in 18-49. NBC is probably in third in HH/viewers, but second in 18-49, but that will change after tonight's NFL game and they could take the week. Fox is in fourth in total viewers and likely fourth in 18-49, but it could be very close behind ABC. I expect CBS to take the week in HH/viewers for sure. ABC will likely remain second in HH/viewers, with NBC third and Fox in fourth. Among adults 18-49, we can see some big changes after tonight once again, unless CBS has a huge NFL overrun tonight. More on that later. As for last week, week 1, NBC won the week among adults 18-49 thanks to the NFL game. Fox, CBS and ABC trailed and were two tenths below one another. Among total viewers, CBS took that crown followed by ABC. NBC was a close third, followed by Fox. Monday started of week two and it was NBC on top in 18-49 and ABC in total viewers. Starting with ABC, a two-hour Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars did 12.38 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, down four tenths in 18-49 from previous week's season premiere. It has to do better. Competing against The Voice has hurt it. A new episode of Castle followed with a first place 10.35 million but a third place 1.9 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from the previous week's season premiere. For NBC, a two-hour The Voice, which is in week 4, did 12.55 million and a night best 4.6 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. At 10pm, week three of Revolution did well for NBC with 8.32 million and a 3.2 18-49 rating, but down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. It's been picked up for a full season. Next up was CBS with its comedies and the slumping Hawaii Five-0. How I Met Your Mother started it off with 8.17 million and a 3.3 18-49 rating, down three tenths from previous week's season premiere. Week two of Partners followed with just 5.76 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Not good for a CBS Monday comedy! Then it was 2 Broke Girls at 9pm doing 9.22 million and a 3.5 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week's season premiere. A little concerning. A new Mike & Molly followed with 8.52 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating, also down two tenths in 18-49 week-to-week. A new Hawaii Five-0 was next doing a third place 7.95 million and a second place 2.0 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week's very disappointing season premiere ratings. Fox was next with week three of Bones doing 6.99 million and a 2.3 18-49 rating at 8pm, down two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Then the third episode of The Mob Doctor did only 3.46 million and 1.0 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from premiere week. It will likely be pulled VERY soon unless it starts going up, which isn't likely. The CW aired a music festival. Look for season premieres of 90120 and Gossip Girl tomorrow night. On Tuesday, it was CBS with the victory in both measures for the second straight week. CBS had the always reliable NCIS opening the night off with 18.87 million and a 3.7 18-49 rating, down four tenths in 18-49 from previous week's premiere. Still solid. A new NCIS: Los Angeles was next and did 14.91 million and 3.1 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week's premiere. And finally CBS aired week two of new series Vegas and did 12.11 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, down a concerning five tenths in 18-49 from previous week's premiere. ABC was next with a special Dancing with the Stars All-Stars where we saw defying dances from the all-stars in their previous seasons doing 8.29 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating only. The live Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars: The Results followed with 12.03 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, on par with previous week's two-hour premiere. We sadly said goodbye to Joey Fatone. A new episode of Private Practice followed and did 6.01 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, which was down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week's season premiere. Should be better I think soon, as the episode was not that strong and saw a drop in the second half. NBC started off solidly with week 4 of The Voice in the 8pm hour doing 8.48 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, down 1.2 18-49 ratings point from previous week. This episode was a recap episode though. Why a recap already? Makes no sense. New comedy Go On followed with 5.82 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating, but it lost to the competing Fox comedy again and down six tenths in 18-49 from previous week thanks to a weaker lead-in. Concerning, but it was picked up for a full season. And week four of The New Normal did 4.5 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, which was down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Not good. A new Parenthood at 10pm did 4.45 million and a third place 1.6 18-49 rating, down two tenths in 18-49 week-to-week. Will this show call it quits after this season? Fox started it off with the season premiere of Raising Hope at a new time of 8pm doing 3.9 million and a 1.7 18-49 rating, which wasn't too good. Then week two of Ben & Kate followed doing only 3.22 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, down five tenths in 18-49 from previous week. No matter how you spin it, that's not good news. At 9pm, we had a new New Girl doing 4.99 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating, on par with its previous week 18-49 rating. Low total viewers but still a solid 18-49 rating. Week two of the big disappointment The Mindy Project at 9:30pm did 3.68 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, down five tenths from the previous week's series premiere. Cannot afford to go down anymore. The CW aired the season premiere of Hart of Dixie at 8pm and did 1.53 million and a 0.7 18-49 rating, which was a decent performance. New series Emily Owens MD launches starting Oct. 16 at 9pm. Wednesday it was very atypical as the first Presidential Debate aired live from 9-11pm ET/6-8pm PT. That meant we only had one hour of regular series programming. First, CBS started the night off with week three of Survivor: Philippines at 10.38 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. Veteran dramas Criminal Minds and CSI were preempted. CBS News Campaign 2012 coverage of the first Presidential Debate aired from 9pm-10:33pm ET and did not count in the ratings but it did 10.58 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating. The analysis from 10:33-11pm ET counted in the ratings and did 7.01 million and a 2.1 18-49 rating. ABC started off with its Comedy Wednesday comedy block with a new episode of The Middle doing 7.72 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, down seven tenths from previous week's one-hour premiere. That is concerning, but the regular line-up did not air at its normal time in all time zones due to the debate. At 8:30pm, The Neighbors moved to its regular timeslot of 8:30pm and did 6.32 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, down big from previous week's special premiere at 9:30pm. Let's wait until this Wednesday to see a better picture, as the big 9pm gun was not on this week. Yes, at 9pm, Modern Family was preempted as ABC aired ABC News Your Voice Your Vote 2012 coverage of the first Presidential Debate from 9pm-10:32pm and did not count in the ratings but we can tell you it did 11.25 million and a 3.4 18-49 rating. The analysis from 10:32pm-11pm did 8.86 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, which is solid. The season premiere of Suburgatory will premiere Oct. 17 at 9:30pm. The series premiere of Nashville will air this coming Wednesday at 10pm! Fox aired week four of The X Factor doing 9.71 million and a 3.5 18-49 rating, up a tenth from previous week's two hour episode. Coverage of the first Presidential Debate followed from 9pm-10:33pm but it didn't count in the ratings. We can tell you it did 6.89 million and a 2.9 18-49 rating. Fox's analysis from 10:33-11pm did count in the ratings as it did 5.68 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating. NBC opened the night with a new Animal Practice, which is awful by the way, dropping to 4.56 million and a 1.3 18-49 rating, which is down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. At 8:30pm, the news wasn't good either but a tad better with new comedy Guys with Kids doing only 4.76 million and a 1.6 18-49 rating, but it was on par with previous week in 18-49. Law & Order: SVU was preempted and Chicago Fire will premiere this Wednesday, but on this night NBC aired NBC News Decision 2012 coverage of the first Presidential Debate but it didn't count in the ratings. We can tell you it did 11.07 million and a 3.8 18-49 rating. The analysis from 10:33-11pm ET did count in the ratings and did 8.72 million and a 2.8 18-49 rating. The CW had the season premiere of Supernatural at 9pm and did 1.85 million and a 0.8 18-49 rating. Decent start. New series Arrow premieres this Wednesday at 8pm. Thursday it was CBS with the win for the second straight week, but ABC and Fox had some good options. ABC opened the night with week two of Last Resort doing 8.0 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, down three tenths in 18-49 from previous week's series premiere. Not much of a drop, but needs to do a bit better in 18-49. At 9pm, a new Grey's Anatomy followed with 10.84 million and a 3.8 A18-49 rating, down seven tenths from previous week's big season premiere, but still very strong. Nine seasons and still going strong and still the top drama in 18-49! A new episode of Scandal followed with 6.56 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating, down just a tenth from previous week's solid season premiere. This is a growing series and was very consistent last spring. It could be a solid 10pm option this season. CBS opened with a new The Big Bang Theory at 15.18 million and a 4.9 A18-49 rating, down one tenth in 18-49 from previous week's season premiere. With no Modern Family, #1 comedy and TV series in 18-49 and still #1 in total viewers. Week two of Two and a Half Men on a new night and time followed with 12.33 million and a 3.6 18-49 rating, up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. Solid, but no better than Rules of Engagement in the time period. A new episode of Person of Interest followed with 14.58 million and a 3.0 18-49 rating, also up one tenth in 18-49 from previous week's season premiere. Quietly has done well since halfway through last season. Week two of new series Elementary followed and did 11.13 million and a 2.5 18-49 rating, down a concerning six tenths in 18-49 from previous week's series premiere. Still it won its time period, but it needs to stay here and not go much more down. Fox aired week four of The X Factor and it was nearly identical to the previous week, doing a solid 9.25 million and a 3.2 18-49 rating. A new Glee followed at 9pm and was pretty low with 6.07 million and a 2.6 18-49 rating, but up two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. NBC was in the familiar fourth place with the final season premiere of 30 Rock doing 3.46 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating only, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week's SNL Election Special in the same time period. Not good. A new Up All Night followed and did only 3.13 million and a 1.4 18-49 rating, but on par week-to-week. At 9pm, the very tired The Office did just 4.14 million and a 2.2 18-49 rating, but managed to go up a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. Still not good. At 9:30pm, Parks Recreation closed the comedy block with 3.53 million and a 1.9 18-49 rating, up three tenths in 18-49 actually from previous week. Good sign, but still low. NBC aired the whytheheckisthisstillinprimetime Rock Center with Brian Williams at 10pm closing the night with only 3.4 million and a 1.0 18-49, up two tenths in 18-49 week-to-week. Waste of a time period. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries and new series Beauty & the Beast launch this Thursday.
