Former Steelers player coming to Tamaqua

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Tamaqua is having a great season so far in football. The Raiders are undefeated through seven games and could be on a collision course with Catasauqua in the District 11 2A bracket. So, they're definitely thinking football in that nook of Schuylkill County, and will likely embrace next week's appearance by a former Pittsburgh Steeler. Here are the details, courtesy of athletic director Mike Hromyak: Tamaqua Area School District partnering with the National Character Education Foundation, will host Robin Cole, Former Pittsburgh Steeler and All- Pro linebacker in the NFL, on Thusday, October 25 at 7:00 PM in the TASD Auditorium for the public and on Friday, Oct. 26 8:30 AM in the high school gymnasium just for our students. He will be addressing students on the benefits of good character and will be sharing his compelling and adventurous story of how he played football and became a great linebacker. Cole encourages students to work hard in school and stresses that achieving good grades is important. Students will be captivated by Robin Cole’s presentation of how he overcame many obstacles, learned to never give up and always persevere. Cole’s message addresses current youth cultural issues and encourages students to overcome life obstacles, work hard, and respect authority. This relevant and inspiring message was booked by the school district through the National Character Education Foundation because we believe in trying to push our students to chase their dreams, develop a solid character and healthy relationships. Cole, by the way, played for the Steelers from 1977-87 before finishing his career with the Jets in 1988. While in Pittsburgh, he was a part of two Super Bowl championship teams.
