Dan Koppen the center of attention on The NFL Network

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Whitehall graduate Dan Koppen, now with the Denver Broncos, got a lot of attention on The NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" show after the Rams-Cardinals game on Thursday night/Friday morning. Host Chris Rose and forner NFL players Shaun O'Hara and Willie McGinest began looking at some of Sunday's key matchups, including Denver's game at New England. Koppen, who had been the starting center for the Patriots for nine seasons before being let go and signing with the Broncos, was seen as a potential key to the matchup. Rose: "Interesting name in this game. For nine years Dan Koppen was Tom Brady's center. Now he's Peyton Manning's guy after an injury. So what effect will he have on this game?" O'Hara: "It's definitely going to be an emotional game for Dan to come back to Foxboro after they just released him and he spent his entire career with them to this point. One thing you know is you never can trust a redhead. He's spilling his guts to the Denver Broncos. He's telling them everything he knows about the Patriots offense and Brady's calls. If he calls 'ice cream' or 'chocolate' here's what it means. So, believe me, Bill Belichick knows it. He's a brain-iac, he's going to make them change their calls. Rose: "There's no loyalty whatsoever? McGinest: "No, not once they release you. There's no loyalty." O'Hara: "The loyalty is to the paycheck." Rose: "Oh, I see. Good enough. Ok. Dan Koppen. Centers make a little news on our show." Rose at least pronounced his name correctly with the long O sound, not making the first part of Dan's name sound like he's a police officer. Nice to see Koppen get some national TV talk.
