FROM THE MORNING CALL
The IronPigs' playoff fate was decided even before the final pitch of Saturday night's game was thrown.
One year after their International League postseason debut, the IronPigs missed out on the opportunity for a return trip when they lost 6-3 to the Buffalo Bisons at Coca-Cola Park.
But the IronPigs' playoff fate had already been decided earlier in the evening as Pawtucket defeated Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 2-0 to clinch the wild-card berth. The IronPigs' season will officially end Monday against Buffalo in Allentown.
Manager Ryne Sandberg's club is now 74-68 and trails second-place Pawtucket by four games in the North Division with two to play. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, at 83-59, clinched the division title last week.
