It was a sluggish performance, but Lehigh held off Monmouth 27-17 on Saturday at Goodman Stadium.
The Mountain Hawks, ranked No. 11 in one national poll and No. 16 in the other, built leads of 14-0 and 21-7, but didn't score an offensive touchdown in the second half.
Their only score of the second half came on the last play of the game when Monmouth kept lateraling on the final, last-ditch play and Jerard Gordon recovered a fumble for a touchdown.
Lehigh got an up-and-down performance from new quarterback Mike Colvin. He was 17-for-32 for 221 yards and two touchdowns, but threw two interceptions.
Colvin also ran for a score.
All-American wide receiver Ryan Spadola had nine catches for 111 yards, but no scores. Lee Kurfis and freshman Derek Knott hauled in the Lehigh scoring tosses.
Lehigh heads to Central Connecticut State next Saturday.
