Freshman from Parkland to get a start for Lehigh

FROM KEITH GROLLER
Ok, it's not as the most glamorous position, but the mere fact that Matt Laub, a freshman from Parkland, will be the starting long snapper on punts for Lehigh on Saturday night in a hostile environment like Liberty University shows how much faith the Mountain Hawks coaching staff has in Laub.
Laub is the backup strong-side linebacker for Lehigh and has played in all three games so far for the No. 13/16 ranked Mountain Hawks, making five tackles, including one sack.
"It's a big stage for a young kid," Lehigh coach Andy Coen said. "He's done a great job in practice. Hopefully, we don't have to punt a lot because it's going to be loud and there will be a big crowd there [in Lynchburg, Va.], but Matt has really worked hard and will do a good job."
Laub is replacing junior Kyle Lechner who has a broken finger that will prevent him from snapping for a few weeks.
"It is not an insignificant position," Coen said.
Looking at the other locals on the Lehigh roster, Northampton grad Billy Boyko, a senior linebacker, is third on the team in tackles with 17. On offense, Palisades grad Josh Parris has three catches for 73 yards and Wilson grad Matt Lippincott is the backup center.
