Even top field hockey teams see change in volatile LVC

FROM THE MORNING CALL
Four coaching changes — including those at powerhouses Whitehall and Parkland — give Lehigh Valley Conference field hockey a new look in 2012. Central Catholic and Dieruff hope their coaching hires signal a new direction.
Whitehall and Northampton seem to have benefited the most from players' surprising decisions to continue playing field hockey instead of soccer. Emmaus and Allen appear strong despite significant roster turnover. Liberty and Easton could surge with talented squads.
Freedom might teeter between returning to the top third of the league or being leap-frogged by the likes of a young but talented Nazareth team. Little will be certain until the battles begin this week.
The league will feature scholarship signees and novices, state qualifiers and standings climbers.
