Catasauqua grad Anthony Recker called up by Cubs

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Catasauqua's Anthony Recker was one of four players called up by the Cubs on Tuesday as major league rosters can expand to up to 40 players in September. Recker was traded by Oakland to the Cubs last week. Recker, who turned 29 on Wednesday, played in 18 games for Oakland over the past two years, batting .146 (7-for-48) with a double, eight walks and 20 strikeouts. In 59 minor league games, mostly at Triple-A Sacramento, Recker hit .261 this season with 10 homers, 9 doubles, 33 RBIs and 31 runs scored.
