Some strong pitching and a 16-hit attack enabled Bath to remain alive in the Region 2 American Legion Baseball Tournament today.
Alex Longernecker went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs, Andreas Haller and Evan Allman also had three hits and Jason Mitch combined with two other relievers to strike out 17 as Bath spotted Northern Valley three first-inning runs before pounding out a 12-3 win in the losers bracket at Hostelley Field in North Wales, Pa.
Bath (19-8-2) will face the loser of tonight's game between Nazareth and Nor-Gwyn 4 p.m. Monday.
"I wasn't really concerned when we fell behind," said Longernecker, a recent graduate of Bethlehem Catholic who plans to play for Northampton Community College this fall. "Mitch has some early innings like that but he always recovers."
