Lehigh Valley IronPigs drop first game in doubleheader

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs lost 3-0 to the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees in game one of its doubleheader. It is the third straight loss for the IronPigs after winning three consecutive earlier this week.

Tim Redding struck out three and allowed four hits in six shutout innings to earn the win for the Yankees. Jonathan Albaladejo struck out the side in the seventh to earn his 29th save of the season.

Third baseman Chad Tracy went 2-for-3 to lead the Yankees, who sit in first place in the International League North. Jesus Montero knocked in two of Scranton/Wilkes Barre's runs, including hitting a solo homer in the fifth inning off of J.A. Happ.

Happ allowed three earned runs and six hits in five innings pitched. But the recently demoted left-hander did strike out seven on 101 pitches.

Andy Tracy had the IronPigs' only extra-base hit of the game, a double into center field in the seventh inning.

Top prospect Domonic Brown is competing in the XM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday night and will miss this weekend's series.

In game two, Drew Carpenter will pitch for Lehigh Valley against Scranton/Wilkes Barre's Jason Hirsh.
