TALK PHILLY DEBUTS MONDAY AT NOON ON CBS 3

From CBS3:

PAT CIARROCCHI, UKEE WASHINGTON TO HOST ‘TALK PHILLY’
DEBUTING MONDAY, OCTOBER 19TH AT NOON ON CBS 3

Live performance by The Hooters to kick off premier episode

Philadelphia, October 13, 2009 – The station that gave local viewers People Are Talking and Evening Magazine in the ‘80s is reinventing local TV for the new millennium this Fall with the debut of Talk Philly, a daily lifestyle program airing weekdays at noon on CBS 3 beginning Monday, October 19th.

Pat Ciarrocchi and Ukee Washington, two of the market’s most versatile broadcasters, will host the new show live from Studio B in the station’s state-of-the-art HD studios. Anchor Liz Keptner will provide news updates within the program with Meteorologist Maria LaRosa updating the day’s weather forecast. The newly-constructed Talk Philly set, which is Wi-Fi ready, is built to resemble a cozy Philadelphia loft, allowing the hosts in-studio, living room-style conversations and interaction with their home audience online. Viewers will also be able to access any stories, products or resources featured on Talk Philly via www.cbs3.com/talkphilly or www.talkphillytv.com

“In these challenging times,” people need more than headlines to manage their increasingly complicated lives,” says President and General Manager Jon Hitchcock. “Talk Philly is our chance to offer viewers more health, consumer and lifestyle solutions with the advantage of in-studio guests, longer interviews and demonstrations.”

The program will also offer the station an opportunity to showcase the arts and entertainment that has made Philly world famous. In that spirit, The Hooters will perform on Talk Philly’s first show live from their studio in Conshohocken where they are rehearsing for their October 23rd performance at the Spectrum with Hall and Oates and Todd Rundgren, part of the famed venue’s Final Farewell Concert Series. Ciarrocchi and Washington will take a look back at some of the great moments in the Spectrum’s history on that first show as well.

The week’s line-up also includes Washington’s one-on-one interview Thursday with Jamie Foxx discussing his latest movie, Law Abiding Citizen, shot here in Philly. Foxx reveals exclusive information about a new Philly project in the works and talks candidly about being attacked in his hotel room during the filming of the movie. Also featured the first week are spiritual medium and author of Messages From The Other Side Joseph Tittel, ideas for fun and scary things to do with your kids this Halloween season and a fall fashion and beauty segment. Future guest interviews include Dr. Phil, new talk show host Dr. Oz, Gloria Allred talking about “sexting,” and Denis Leary discussing his campaign to thank emergency service workers.

For the simpatico Ciarrocchi and Washington, who have co-anchored news together since 1996, Talk Philly is an opportunity to explore a variety of topics outside of their Eyewitness News responsibilities as well as draw on their vast knowledge of the region. “Nobody has deeper Philly roots than me and Pat,” Washington jokes. “It will be a joy to showcase the area. I’m especially looking forward to being able to highlight the arts in all their forms, from music to film.” “It’s liberating to also have the gift of time,” Ciarrocchi adds. “As news anchors, we are always racing the clock. The luxury of a segment that could be up to five-minutes, which in broadcasting time is leisurely, is a present.”

CBS 3 (KYW-TV) is part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
