PA BUDGET IS OFFICIAL!

Governor Rendell has signed the key pieces of legislation to end the 101-day state budget stalemate. This comes after evening votes from both houses of the Legislature on the state fiscal code. Pennsylvania's $27.8 billion budget is the last state budget in the country to go into effect. This budget agreement cuts spending by more than 1% and pulls more than $1.6 billion from the state's reserves. Even with the passage of this budget the Legislature's work isn't done yet. Nearly $700 million in discretionary funding for universities is still being held up in the house over a disagreement on a bill to legalize and tax table games at casinos.
