Lehigh rolls past Georgetown, 45-24, to improve to 6-1

Finally, Lehigh enjoyed a breather on Saturday.

After posting four wins by seven points or less and struggling more than expected in a 24-10 win at Columbia last week, the nationally-ranked Mountain Hawks rolled to a 45-24 win over Georgetown on Saturday before 9,866 at Goodman Stadium.

It was the first Patriot League game that counted in the standings for Lehigh, ranked No. 16 and 18 in the FCS national polls.

It was a dominant performance, especially offensively.

The Mountain Hawks led 38-3 at halftime with their highest offensive output in a half since scoring 49 in the first half of a 69-0 win over Georgetown in 2002.

Keith Sherman had a career-high 157 yards on 19 carries and scored two touchdowns in three quarters of work. Sean Farrell scored three times on his four carries and Brandon Bialkowski completed 26 of 36 passes for 299 yards and one touchdown in an abbreviated performance.

Lee Kurfis, the nation's leading receiver at the FCS level coming in, caught seven passes for 77 yards. He now has 71 receptions for 1,011 yards.

Palisades grad Josh Parris also had a big day with eight catches for 69 yards.

Lehigh totaled 532 total yards, the third time this season the Mountain Hawks have totaled more than 500 in a game.

Lehigh outgained the Hoyas (1-6) 532-369.

Lehigh (6-1) will travel to Bucknell on Saturday, and then has a bye week before returning home to face Holy Cross on Nov. 9.
