FROM KEITH GROLLER
As challenging as the 2013 schedule has become for the Lehigh football team, the 2014 season figures to be even more challenging with some very lengthy road trips.
Lehigh released its schedule on Monday, an 11-game package that features trips to New Hampshire, Yale, Cornell, Georgetown, Holy Cross and to Yankee Stadium for the 150th meeting against Lafayette.
"With the early bye we will wind up playing the five straight league games at the end of the year,” Lehigh coach Andy Coen said. “I think it’s laid out to be a very challenging schedule for our team, and we are probably going to be a young football team again next year as you look at our roster right now.”
As for the special and unique game at the end of the season, Coen said he's excited. His players will likely be as well.
"It’s incredibly exciting to be playing the 150th Lehigh-Lafayette game at Yankee Stadium,” Coen said. “There are always expectations to that game really right from the beginning of the season. It’s really an event, not necessarily just a game. It’ll be certainly very special playing the game in Yankee Stadium and everything that will go on around that game. It will be exciting for the students, the fans and the players on both teams. It’s going to be an exciting year, without a doubt.”
