FROM KEITH GROLLER
Lehigh had its most dominant performance of the season on Saturday in whipping Georgetown 45-24. It really wasn't that close. The Mountain Hawks led 38-3 at halftime.
Lehigh's local contingent made contributions to the win that elevated the season's record to 6-1 with a visit to Bucknell upcoming on Saturday. The national FCS polls will be released later on Monday and it wouldn't be surprising to see the Mountain Hawks climb up a few spots. They were No. 16 and 18 last week.
As for the locals, the best day belonged to junior wide receiver Josh Parris. He was moved to the slot to take the place of the injured Sergio Fernandez-Soto, Derek Knott and Stefan Sansone. The former Palisades Pirate had a team-high eight catches (even one more than Lee Kurfis) for 69 yards. His longest reception went for 17 yards. Parris now has 33 catches for 397 yards and two TDs on the season.
Although there are no stats to tout, senior center Matt Lippincott (Wilson) and the entire offensive line had a solid performance as Lehigh pumped out a season-high 234 yards rushing and didn't allow a sack on 38 pass attempts.
Defensively, sophomore linebacker Noah Robb (Central Catholic) picked up four more tackles (three solos) to give him 39 on the season -- second best on the team.
Freshman Nick Shafnisky (Whitehall) handled the holds on seven PAT kicks by Ryan Pandy flawlessly. Pandy also nailed a 41-yard field goal.
Thought there was a chance Shafnisky might see his first collegiate action at quarterback, but that didn't happen as Matt McHale backed up Brandon Bialkowski and threw a pair of passes.
Sophomore linebacker Matt Laub (Parkland) did play in the game, but didn't record a tackle. Lehigh used a lot of different players, so Laub's time was limited.
