FROM KEITH GROLLER
I expect the Mountain Hawks to bounce back in a big way on Broadway today.
Here's the preview capsule from today's Morning Call print editions:
No. 14/17 LEHIGH (4-1) AT COLUMBIA (0-3)
When/where: 12 p.m. today at Robert K. Kraft Field at Wien Stadium, New York, N.Y.
TV: NBC Sports Network
Radio: ESPN of LV, AM 1230 and 1320.
Series: Lehigh 11-5-1. Last meeting: Lehigh 35-14 in Bethlehem on Oct. 6, 2012.
Lehigh stat leaders: Brandon Bialkowski 133-223, 1,854 yds, 14 TDs, 6 INTs; Keith Sherman 73 car., 345 yds, 4.7 ypc, 2 TDs; Lee Kurfis 50 rec., 804 yds, 4 TDs; Sergio Fernandez-Soto 24 rec., 326 yds, 2 TD; Tyler Ward 48 TT, 2 TFL; 2 INT; Noah Robb 29 TT, 2 TFL, Sack, INT.
Columbia stat leaders: Trevor McDonagh 24-60, 202 yds, 1 TDs, INT; Marcorus Garrett 41 car., 262 yds, 6.4 ypc, 2 TDs; Connor Nelligan 17 rec., 142 yds; Zach Olinger 31 TT, 1.0 TFL; Vinny Pugliese 26 TT, 2.0 TFL, 1 sack, 1 FF.
The skinny: It’s a return trip to New York City for the Mountain Hawks, but Columbia is a few miles and several levels of talent away from Fordham. The Lions were routed by Monmouth and Princeton, both teams that Lehigh has beaten. They also lost 52-7 to Fordham. This is a nationally-televised game and the most exposure the Lions will receive all season so expect them to be motivated. Lehigh is simply not good enough to be overconfident against anybody and must come back determined to take care of business with the five Patriot League games that count starting next week when Georgetown visits Bethlehem. Look for the Lehigh defense to get aggressive against a Columbia O-line that has surrendered 15 sacks. Also, look for the Lehigh rushing attack to get in gear against a defense that has allowed 272 ypg on the ground.
Keith Groller's pick: Lehigh 38-17.
