Lehigh Valley Sports Hall of Fame: Past legends and present stars come together

FROM KEITH GROLLER

I am all banquet'd out after two nights in a row of lots of eating and talking.
I've been on the Northampton Community Center diet, which is not very good for the waistline. Lots of filling, chicken, mashed potatoes and other goodies, especially that scoop of vanilla ice cream to cap it all off.
Enjoyed the National Football Foundation/Lehigh Valley Chapter Hall of Fame dinner on Friday night, and battled a sore throat to present about 20 LV Sports Hall of Fame inductees, two high school athletes of the year and two scholar-athlete recipients back in Northampton tonight.
After recognizing some all-time greats, special people like Bill Paulik, Mike Guman, Bob Zerfass, Ishky Fatzinger, Al Leonzi and Mike Cerimele, I introduced the two senior athletes of the year -- Pen Argyl's state championship wrestler Mikey Racciato and Whitehall soccer and field hockey standout Kayla Cunningham.
And then we closed it out by honoring the two scholar-athletes, Catasauqua's Zac Edwards and Bethlehem Catholic's Bridget Smith.
All four of the young people are remarkable with a list of accomplishments that are a mile long.
It is my belief that if the LV Sports Hall of Fame is still in existence, two, three or maybe all four of the
youngsters honored tonight will be inducted as Hall of Famers one day.
It was my pleasure and honor to introduce them to the audience tonight as well as all of the Hall of Famers.
