School events in the Lehigh Valley area

http://www.mcall.com/news/local/mc-lehigh-valley-school-1221-20121220,0,350565.story FROM THE MORNING CALL LEHIGH COUNTY •IN THE ALLENTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT: Raub Middle School recently received a $5,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Medical Society in support of a collaborative project to reduce childhood obesity in an ethnic community and encourage students to pursue a medical career. The grant will help fund the expansion of the school's Health Careers Club, which promotes student interest in pursuing a career in the health care field. Funding will expand the program to include 10 additional weeks that will allow the club to continue meeting through May. The grant will also allow the club to add the components of peer counseling, leadership development and mentorship to reduce obesity. Ritter Elementary School, 790 N. Plymouth St., will hold a Chorus Holiday Concert at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21. •EAST PENN SCHOOL BOARD recently approved the following changes to the 2012-13 calendar: Thursday, Feb. 14, full school day; Friday, Feb. 15, 11 a.m. dismissal for middle and high schools; and Thursday, March 28, full school day.
