Stove source of gas odor in Nazareth senior home

FROM THE MORNING CALL

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians briefly evacuated residents of Alexandria Manor in Nazareth on Saturday night after a call about a suspected gas leak, according to UGI.

After UGI identified the source as a kitchen range burner turned on and the pilot out, residents were allowed to return, said UGI spokesman Daniel Adamo.

The fire department evacuated residents around 9:15 p.m., shortly after receiving a call at Alexandria Manor, 7 S. New St. Officials with UGI traced the odor to the kitchen and residents were let back in at 10:15 p.m., Adamo said.

According to the breaking news network, emergency responders evacuated all residents to a safe area of the facility. EMS had set up a triage area to evaluate residents, according to the report.

Alexandria Manor, which also has locations in Bath and Bethlehem, offers housing and assisted living for seniors in the Lehigh Valley.
