Northwestern leaders were good for Colonial League, District 11 sports

FROM KEITH GROLLER

Wonderful piece today in our paper (page News 8) and online about Northwestern High's retiring principal and assistant principal, Dennis Nemes and Ken Fisher.

They have done an excellent job in leading their school up there in New Tripoli, but they have also been terrific for the Colonial League and District 11 athletics.

Nemes has served on the District 11 committee for many years and has been a strong advocate for our athletes. And all the while he has always carried himself in a calm, professional, thoughtful manner that has served him well in his dealings with coaches, athletes, colleagues and media alike.

Fisher has been the driving force behind the excellent Colonial League and District 11 websites. It's always up-to-date. Fisher never seems to take a day off with it.

There's not another league or district in the state that offers the amount of information that those two sites have and it's all due to the tireless efforts of Fisher.

I believe that while retiring from their day jobs, Fisher and Nemes will still be involved in some capacity in local sports. I definitely hope Fisher will still maintain those websites which we've come to depend on in local sports media.

These are two good guys who will definitely be missed.

Again, if you have not read Devon Lash's story on these two, please do. It's a well-done, deserving tribute.
