102.9 MGK LAUNCHES “ROCKIN’ REELS” AT PIAZZA
102.9 MGK & the Philadelphia Film Society present “Rockin’ Reels At The Piazza” a FREE classic rock themed movie series at Piazza at Schmidt’s.
Bala Cynwyd, PA (May 18, 2010): On Thursday evening, May 27, “The Last” shall be first, as Classic Rock 102.9 MGK and the Philadelphia Film Society launch the beginning of their free classic rock-themed movie series, “Rockin’ Reels At The Piazza”, at the 80,000 square foot open-air plaza known as The Piazza at Schmidt’s. “MGK’s Rockin’ Reels” series will take place monthly, on Thursday evenings, from 6pm to 9pm.
Martin Scorcese’s “The Last Waltz”, a documentary film that captures The Band’s legendary, celebrity guest filled final concert, will be the first screening in the series. “The Last Waltz” is lauded by many as one of the best-sounding and best-looking rock films ever. The concert features guest appearances by Neil Young, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Ronnie Wood and Eric Clapton as well as insightful interview segments with band members.
Prior to the start of the movie, attendees will enjoy an up-tempo Classic Rock soundtrack, activities themed around that evening’s movie and will be able to take part in “Text To Win Classic Rock Trivia” on the Piazza’s huge 26 foot by 16 foot LED screen. Screenings will begin promptly at 7pm. Admission is free and a considerable amount of free parking is available.
