From Keith Groller
I just got off the phone with Paul Heffner and all Paul wanted to say was "Thank You."
He wanted to say thank you to the entire Lehigh Valley community for their "support, prayers, cards, best wishes, everything that they've done for us."
He and Amy are truly emboldened and uplifted by the tremendous outpouring of affection and love that has been expressed for Patti and their family and they will never forget it.
Allow me to add just this. Patti was first-class, top-notch and one of the great people I've ever known in Lehigh Valley sports. I've admired her since I was a teenager and a student at Dieruff High School way back in the late 1970s. Even though we were never in the building together -- Patti graduated from Dieruff in 1976 just as I was entering that fall -- if you cared about Dieruff sports you knew and admired Patti Sikorski. To me, she was the All-American girl.
But she also married one heck of a terrific guy and I can't say enough about the way Paul and Amy have handled what for them had to be far and away the most difficult year of their lives.
These are truly terrific people and our hearts go out to them for what they've all been through.
For those of us who believe in God, we can only trust that He will take care of all of the Heffners on this earth, and in the far better place that Patti is now entering.
Patti's viewing will be held from 2-9 p.m. Friday in the Parish Hall at St. Joe's the Worker in Orefield. A Catholic mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday
