6ABC Salutes Silver Linings Playbook and Oscars

Philadelphia, Pa. (February 15, 2013) – In celebration of the 85th Annual Academy Awards, better known as The Oscars, 6abc will feature special Oscar programming as well as engage social media fans with 6abc-exclusives all in anticipation of Oscar Sunday, February 24, 2013 beginning at 4 p.m. EST and going LIVE from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California at 5 p.m. EST only on 6abc.
OSCARS HISTORY! The first televised Oscar ceremony aired in 1953 allowing millions of movie fans throughout the U.S. and Canada to watch the proceedings live. Now, broadcast internationally, 6abc viewers will watch the awards ceremony alongside viewers in over 200 countries.
OSCARS FASHION! Oscar-themed programming will begin on 6abc on Saturday, February 16th at 7 p.m. during FYI Philly when host Alicia Vitarelli searches for the Oscar gown she will wear LIVE on the Red Carpet in Hollywood Oscar Sunday. Viewers must tune in to FYI Philly on the 16th to see her narrow down her top gown choices and then can vote for their favorites all week-long in an online poll by going to fyi.6abc.com and 6at4.com. To share gown favorites and votes via Twitter, tweet to @6abc using hashtag #AliciaRedCarpet. Alicia will reveal the “Viewers’ Choice Gown” on Saturday, February 23rd during FYI Philly at 7 p.m. and Oscar Sunday, February 24th including LIVE on Action News at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
OSCAR-NOMINATED PHILADELPHIA! In a special Oscar-themed edition of FYI Philly airing Saturday, February 23rd, and repeating on Oscar Sunday, February 24th, hosts Karen Rogers and Alicia Vitarelli will take viewers on a tour of all-things Silver Linings Playbook. The Philadelphia-based movie earned a total of eight Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Director, as well as Best Actor for Philadelphia’s own Bradley Cooper and Best Actress for Jennifer Lawrence, who plays his love interest. Throughout the buzz-worthy FYI Philly episode, viewers will be taken on-location to the film’s famous scenes including the Llanerch Diner in Upper Darby and the “Ballroom at the Ben” in Center City Philadelphia. In addition, the episode will challenge Vitarelli to “Waltz like Bradley” during ballroom dance lessons, make the film’s famous “crabby snacks” and “homemades” with well-known Philly Italian chef, Marc Vetri, and much, much, more. (Oscar-themed edition of FYI Philly will air on 6abc on February 23rd at 7 p.m. and on February 24th at 4 p.m.)
OSCARS ON THE RED CARPET! Oscar Sunday officially kicks off at 4 p.m. EST on 6abc and runs through the evening with a LIVE On The Red Carpet (OTRC) Pre-Show from Hollywood, CA at 5 p.m. and continues up to the Oscar special post-coverage at 1:05 a.m. EST after a special Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Academy Awards. The 85th Annual Academy Awards are LIVE from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA at 8 p.m. EST only on 6abc (Note: official programming guide below.)
OSCARS GET SOCIAL! Oscar fans can virtually predict the winners in each nomination category by going to 6abc.com and clicking the “My Pick” application. The online ballot application can be synced with Facebook and encourages fans to play with friends and compete for the best predictions.
