ESPN Sees Ratings Bump for Rose and Orange Bowls- ESPN reported today that the combined overnight ratings for yesterday’s Rose and Orange Bowl games registered 8.0, up 11% over the 2012 games. The Rose Bowl averaged a 9.5 rating (down 3% from 2012) while the Orange Bowl came in at 6.5 (up 44% from 2012).
Cotton Bowl this Friday on Fox Sports- Fox Sports returns as the home for the 2013 AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic featuring Texas A&M and Oklahoma. The pre-game show begins at 7:30p.m. ET with Erin Andrews, Eddie George, and Joey Harrington. Kick-off is 8:00p.m. ET with Gus Johnson, Charles Davis, Petros Papadakis and Julie Alexandria at the mic. Fox has had the rights to telecast the Cotton Bowl since 1999.
Business of NFL Series to Air on NBCSN- The NBC Sports Network (NBCSN), in conjunction with NFL Films, will air a four-part series on the business of the NFL. Star Spangled Sundays will debut Tuesday, January 8th at 10:00 p.m. ET. The series will continue on subsequent Tuesdays until January 29th.
NBA Doubleheader Friday on ESPN- ESPN will have another NBA doubleheader this Friday. Game one tips-off at 8:00p.m. ET as the Chicago Bulls take on the Miami Heat with Mike Breen, Hubie Brown, and Lisa Salters on the call. At 10:30p.m. ET Dave Pasch, Jeff Van Gundy and Chris Broussard have the action as the L.A. Lakers take on the L.A. Clippers.
PGA Tour Returns to Golf Channel and NBC- The new PGA season gets underway this weekend with coverage on both the Golf Channel and NBC. The Hyundai Tournament of Champions begins Friday from the Plantation Course in Kapalua, Maui. Golf Channel has first and second round coverage Friday and Saturday from 5:30p.m. to 10:00p.m. ET. NBC will have coverage of the third round Sunday from 3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. before the Golf Channel resumes coverge until 10:00p.m. ET. Golf Channel will have final round action Monday beginning at 4:00p.m. ET. Dan Hicks and Johnny Miller will join Rich Lerner and Frank Nobilo in calling the action from the 18th hole tower at the Plantation Course. Both teams will be joined byon-course reporters Gary Koch, Mark Rolfing, Roger Maltbie, and Jerry Foltz. Steve Sands will hand off-course interviews.
NBCSN Has College Basketball and College Hockey- The NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) will provide coverage of three college basketball and one college hockey game this week. Mike “Doc” Emerick and Pierre McGuirre will call the hockey action this Friday at 7:30p.m. ET as Nebraska–Omaha hosts Colorado College. Here is the basketball schedule with announcer pairings:
