LCIAC UPDATE

http://blogs.mcall.com/varsity/2012/11/district-11-playoff-points-races-updated.html FROM THE MORNING CALL After a small portion of the Week 10 high school football slate in the books, there are a few things we know. Catasauqua has its first 10-0 season in 17 years and will get at least one home game in the District 11 Class 2A playoffs. After beating Northwestern, Catasauqua is at .745631, ahead of 9-0 Tamaqua (.699297), which plays Marian Catholic (9-1) for the Anthracite Football League title at 7 tonight. There is still a possibility that the Blue Raiders could claim the top spot with a win. Pen Argyl (.626104) likely won't change from the third spot regardless of what it does at noon Sunday against visiting Slate Belt rival Bangor. Northern Lehigh (.582092) likely grabbed the fourth and final berth, but that won't be official until Palisades (.550238) plays at Saucon Valley at 2 p.m. today. Next weekend's dates for all District 11 playoff games and Districts 2-4-11 Class 4A subregional contests will be played based on when the involved teams had their Week 10 contests, according to District 11 chairman Jason Zimmerman. For example, if both teams played Friday, that playoff game is Friday, Nov. 9. If both played Saturday or later, that playoff game will be Saturday, Nov. 10. For Week 12 games, district finals in the first three classes and the semis in 4A, the 4A and 3A games are Friday, the 2A and A finals are Saturday. All games are the higher-seeded teams. Official pairings, sites and times will be announced late Monday night, after all of Week 10 action is complete. In Class 3A, Central Catholic (.624588) remains in first place after pounding Bethlehem Catholic last night, but Southern Lehigh (.602466) and Bangor (.563212) remain in the mix, though it is unlikely the Spartans can overtake the Vikings with a win against 1-8 Salisbury today. The Slaters play 7-2 Pen Argyl on Sunday. Blue Mountain likely is the fourth time in the 3A tournament. It plays Class A Schuylkill Haven today. Scranton (1,180) grabs the top spot in the 4A eight-team bracket with a win today over Abington Heights. Right now, Stroudsburg (1,250) and Delaware Valley (1,210) are 1-2 after victories last night. Easton (1,090), which plays Nazareth at 6 p.m. Monday, sits fourth. Whitehall (960), Parkland (920) and Pleasant Valley (910) also have secured playoff spots. The Zephyrs and Trojans have games today. The Bears lost last night to the Mounties. The last berth is between East Stroudsburg South (740) and East Stroudsburg North (700), which play at 6:30 p.m. Monday. In Class A, Williams Valley, Tri-Valley and Marian Catholic have three of the four spots. The Colts, sitting third, could move up with a win over Tamaqua. Shenandoah Valley and Schuylkill Haven are battling for the last berth. Both teams play today.
