When his father, James Ellison, was suspended as the Stroudsburg coach several weeks ago, Jordon admitted he was angry and upset. But family and friends convinced the Mountain Valley Conference's Most Valuable Player to carry on, to complete his senior season. "They told me to do it for myself, for my teammates, for my dad and for my school," Jordon Ellison said. The MVP and his Mountaineers are doing it quite well. Jordon Ellison contributed a goal and an assist Thursday as No. 1 seed Stroudsburg eliminated No. 4 Parkland 2-1 in the District 11 Class 3A semifinals at Whitehall High School's Zephyrs Sports Complex. Second-seeded Emmaus held off No. 3 Southern Lehigh 1-0 in the second 3A semifinal. And so, the MVC and Lehigh Valley Conference champions — Stroudsburg (20-2) and Emmaus (18-3-1) — will square off Saturday for the district title and a berth in the PIAA state tournament. Game time is 3 p.m. at Nazareth's Andrew S. Leh Stadium. In a District 11 Class 2A girls game played Thursday at Whitehall, No. 3 Northwestern ousted No. 7 Palisades 1-0 on a late goal by sophomore Sabrina Mertz.
