Future Lehigh quarterback played well in defeat for Whitehall

FROM KEITH GROLLER
It must have been a classic in Milford on Saturday night.
The game ended too late for our print edition today, but Whitehall's season concluded with a 46-45 overtime loss to Delaware Valley. Both teams scored in OT, but DelVal, with a very gutsy move, decided to go for two and got it. Whitehall scored first in OT, but kicked the PAt.
In the defeat, Lehigh-bound quarterback Nick Shafnisky had a big night.
The Whitehall stat crew is saying he was 19-for-27 for 262 yards passing and had 99 yards on 23 carries.
The Scranton Times reporter had Shafnisky 19 for 26 for 283 yards passing and two scores.
Del Val has a Miami of Ohio-bound quarterback named Bryan Schor, who went 17 for 24 for 232 yards and three TDs, and rushed for 71 yards and two more scores.
But it looks like Shafnisky had every bit the same kind of night for the Zephs, who are probably heartbroken after squandering a 14-0 lead early and a 24-9 halftime advantage. The Zephs also missed a 25-yard field goal with six-tenths of a second remaining in regulation.
Whitehall's stats crew had Nick Sommer with 10 catches for 138 yards.
The Scranton reporter had him with 11 catches for 159.
Either way, big nights for Shafnisky and Sommer, but still I am sure they are very disappointed today as the Whitehall season ended at 8-3.
