PHILADELPHIA – (February 21, 2012) – Comcast SportsNet today announced that the network’s anchor/reporter Gregg Murphy has been added to the Phillies broadcast team as a field reporter for the 2012 season. Murphy will join Tom McCarthy, Gary Matthews and Chris Wheeler, beginning with Comcast SportsNet’s broadcast of the Saturday, March 3rd Spring Training game featuring the Phillies and Yankees.

“As a kid growing up just outside of Philadelphia, this is a dream come true to cover a team that I grew up rooting for,” said Murphy. “Tom, Wheels and Sarge are the top broadcasting team in Major League Baseball and I am thrilled to be working alongside such a talented group.”

“The excitement around the Phillies continues to grow, and with the addition of Gregg, the broadcast team will be able to provide fans with additional insight and perspective that our viewers demand from our telecasts of the five-time defending National League East Philadelphia Phillies,” said Brian Monihan, Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia Senior VP and General Manager.

“The Phillies are very pleased with the addition of Gregg to our broadcast team,” said Dave Buck, Phillies Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advertising Sales. “His personable demeanor, extensive knowledge of the team, and his local roots make Gregg the ideal candidate for the role.”

With his new role, Murphy will occasionally provide analysis on Comcast SportsNet’s news and Phillies programs including “SportsNite,” “Daily News Live” and “Phillies Pregame Live” and “Phillies Postgame Live.”
