Sinkhole Update
FROM ROSS NUNAMAKER
The sinkhole apparently sunk several times according to this blog post in the Morning Call.
It is hoped that the most recent solution will solve the problem, of course it is to rain all day today and into the evening, so this may be a good test.
According to this post initially 2 lanes of the new track were damaged and later all six were impacted.

LES MISERABLES Student Edition is the theatrical production based on the novel
by Victor Hugo. This epic story recounts the struggle against adversity in
19th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf a bread, petty thief Jean

Vera Nederostek and her sister are hosting a benefit/fundraiser on behalf of the
victims of the Allentown Gas Explosion that happened on Wed. 2/9/11. Which now
is referred to as "the 2nd 911" ! This was a huge disaster and it has
personally effected me since one of the families that lost everything is my
sister and brother in-law, Bill & Dottie Yanett. There are 5 families all
together who lost their entire homes and ALL their worldy poss...essions, Bill

This event is for THEM !! These people are not just Dottie's neighbors, but

families. An account for them has been set up at People's First Credit
Union,

Livermore and Hilliard receive Via player of the year honors
FROM KEITH GROLLER
Nazareth's Erika Livermore and Liberty's Darrun Hilliard were selected as the Via players of the year at a banquet tonight at Freedom.
Nice affair as usual and they make a great effort to move it along swiftly. The whole banquet, which featured a lot of honorees, was over in about two hours and 30 minutes and that included the timed dinner period.
I personally would like to hear more about the all-star team selections and especially the player of the year choices rather than merely having people who, in some cases never saw them play, read names off a prepared page.
But that's just me.
People, I guess, should know all about Hilliard and Livermore by now.
Viabanquet 001 Excellent Hall of Fame speeches were delivered by presenters Mike Zambelli (for Rich Baksa) and Mike Kashner (for Charlie Marcon). Both Baksa and Marcon (seen in photo at the right) were solid as well at the podium.
And the scholarship winners were (who else?) Nazareth's Chuck Dibilio and Southern Lehigh's Hannah Doell.
Dibilio is almost too good to be true. I mean if there's anyone who captures the essence of the All-American boy, it's him. Is there anything this kid can't do? Honestly. He's accomplished so much that if you're another Nazareth student, you could be sick of him by now.
Except for one other thing -- he's too darn nice to dislike. You just can't do it.
Princeton is a quality place. But you know what, it's going to become better having Dibilio (seen in photo at left with Doell) around.
Viabanquet 004
But even with all of the kids and Hall of Famers being honored, my favorite part of the night was the wonderful tribute given by Scott Coval to Al Senavitis.
I am so glad that he was included in the program.
Just seeing Al's face on the big screen brightened the night because just seeing him lifted you up whether it was at game, hanging around DeSales or you bumped into him at a store.
This event supports Via, an organization dedicated to helping others and no one helped others more than Al through his four decades of work with the Special Olympics.
I was sitting with Junior Gencarelli, the former Liberty AD and a great friend of Al's.
After Coval's touching tribute, Gencarelli just shook his head and said: "I still can't believe he's gone."
Neither can I, but Al is one of those guys who will always live on in the hearts of the people who knew him and he seemed to know just about everybody. He will never be forgotten.

Karl Keglovits hurls perfect game as Nazareth Area High School baseball team opens with 10-0 win over Pocono Mountain West
FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES
Nazareth's Karl Keglovits managed to steal the spotlight away from Justin Pacchioli for at least one day.
The junior right-hander pitched a five-inning perfect game and struck out 10 as the Blue Eagles' baseball team opened its season with a 10-0 victory over Pocono Mountain West at Nazareth Borough Park.
Pacchioli was 0-for-2 with a walk in his much-anticipated Nazareth debut. The senior catcher transferred from Easton to Nazareth in January and just recently was granted eligibility to play for the Blue Eagles by the PIAA.
"I love having Justin Pacchioli here," Keglovits said. "He's a great addition to the team and we work really well together."
The hard-throwing Keglovits overpowered the Panthers. He struck out the first four batters and fanned the side in the first and third innings.
"He looked good for the first time out, that's for sure," Nazareth coach Jon Lock said. "I don't think many guys are used to seeing the way Karl can throw."
Mike Garzillo and Billy Deutsch each homered for Nazareth. Dan Shepherd had two hits and two RBIs.

First Time Offender Program Eliminated at NASD
FROM ROSS NUNAMAKER
The NASD Code of Conduct Policy came under question when administrators, in my opinion, failed to properly administer the existing policy which resulted in two wrestlers going out for cross-country to serve a suspension that resulted when it became known the pair had been arrested over the summer for a drug violation.
The Express-Times now reports that the NASD has eliminated its first time offenders program in the Conduct Policy to close the alleged “loophole”.
It seems to me this action by the NASD is contrary to the mission of our schools in general – to teach and educate our youth. Youth make mistakes, it is how we learn.
Why not strengthen the first time offender program? Why not clarify that a specified amount of counseling will take place, at the completion of which a certain amount of community service must be completed, and following which a five week suspension from competition in an activity in which the student has a history will begin. I’d further suggest that to remain eligible throughout the balance of the student’s time in school, random drug testing will take place and any violations will then result in permanent suspension.
After all, is our goal to punish the student by barring participation or to help ensure they don’t succumb to drugs.

LES MISERABLES Student Edition is the theatrical production based on the novel
by Victor Hugo. This epic story recounts the struggle against adversity in
19th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf a bread, petty thief Jean
Valjean (Zach Kessler) is released from his 19-year term and not only becomes
an honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive
father.
In the process, he violates his parole. The relentless Inspector Javert
(Parker Ryan), who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently
pursues him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his mettle during a bloody
student uprising and saves the life a young man, Marius (Ryan Skerchak)
hopelessly in love with his adopted daughter, Cosette (Vanessa Ruggiero), does
the ex-convict finally feel fully redeemed.

& Dottie, Karen & Ed..., Antonio and Jill Arroyo, Don O'Shall and Manuel Cruz.
This event is for THEM !! These people are not just Dottie's neighbors, but
her family and friends!! We are organizing this benefit and reaching out for
all the help we can get. We are going to have a fund raiser/benefit for the
public on April 9th, at the Schnecksville Fire Company in Schnecksville, Pa.

families. An account for them has been set up at People's First Credit
Union,
"Rebuilding Our New Lives-13th Street Homeless Victims Fund". Post Office Box
37 Quakertown, PA 18951. Any monetary donations can be sent to this address
for deposit into the account for them. Schnecksville Fire Company has
graciously donated the hall usage and kitchen helpers for this evening. Jay
Allen, a local Elvis tribute artist, will be putting on an awesome show, Ned
Richards, WGPA's Oldies and Doo-Wop DJ and Dawn Binz Photography have all
donated their talent to make this event a huge success. Cost of admission will
be $20 pp. We are reaching out for donations towards a "chinese auction”- gifts
or gift baskets of any kind would be appreciated! We are also in need of food
donations for the event. Any help would be most appreciated!!,We are
estimating about 250+ people to attend this event. Please feel free to phone

an honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive
father.
In the process, he violates his parole. The relentless Inspector Javert
(Parker Ryan), who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently
pursues him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his mettle during a bloody

hopelessly in love with his adopted daughter, Cosette (Vanessa Ruggiero), does
the ex-convict finally feel fully redeemed.

Performed entirely by students, the musical by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel
Schönberg has been specially adapted and licensed by Music Theatre

Vera Nederostek and her sister are hosting a benefit/fundraiser on behalf of the
victims of the Allentown Gas Explosion that happened on Wed. 2/9/11. Which now
is referred to as "the 2nd 911" ! This was a huge disaster and it has
personally effected me since one of the families that lost everything is my
sister and brother in-law, Bill & Dottie Yanett. There are 5 families all
together who lost their entire homes and ALL their worldy poss...essions, Bill
& Dottie, Karen & Ed..., Antonio and Jill Arroyo, Don O'Shall and Manuel Cruz.
This event is for THEM !! These people are not just Dottie's neighbors, but
her family and friends!! We are organizing this benefit and reaching out for
all the help we can get. We are going to have a fund raiser/benefit for the
public on April 9th, at the Schnecksville Fire Company in Schnecksville, Pa.
from 7pm- 11pm. 100% of the proceeds will be divided evenly between these 5
