Shaquille O'Neal signs with Boston Celtics

Shaquille O'Neal is heading north.

The 7-foot-1, 325-pound center in the twilight of a brilliant career has signed a two-year contract worth about $3 million to play for the Boston Celtics.

One of the NBA's most charasmatic players will finish his career with a legendary franchise on the parquet floor beneath 17 championship banners.

The first pick in the 1992 NBA draft, O'Neal's travels have taken him to six NBA teams and 15 All-Star games. He is the league's fifth all-time leading scorer with 28,255 points and is 14th in rebounds with 12,921.

The 38-year old O'Neal, who's won four NBA championships, joins Paul Pierce, 32, Kevin Garnett, 34, and Ray Allen, 35, on a veteran Celtics roster.
