WRESTLING PRACTICES START FRIDAY

From Mike Blouse from the Express Times

Winter sports practices start on Friday, which means the high school wrestling season is right around the corner.

I've been asked who will be the top teams in the Lehigh Valley Conference. Without talking to the coaches, I really don't know the pecking order but I'm certain Easton, Nazareth and Northampton will be at the top.

Coach Steve Powell's Red Rovers will be led by senior Mark Hartenstine and sophomore Mitchell Minotti. Coach Dave Crowell's Blue Eagles feature Zach Horan. Coach Terry Daubert's Konkrete Kids welcome back Austin Sommer.

In the Colonial League, Pen Argyl will undoubtedly be the team to beat this season -- and in future seasons.

Senior Phil Racciato is back and younger brother Mikey, a freshman, will be among the best newcomers in District 11 this season. The Green Knights return most of their starting lineup and open the season against rival Wilson.

That's it ... for now. Just wanted to start thinkin' wrasslin'. Until next time wrestling fans, stay off your backs.
