Rick Troxell is getting a taste of government.
Troxell is a candidate for council in the First Ward, running in November against Councilman Christian Audenreid.
But Nazareth officials have been seeking candidates for several municipal government posts.
Troxell first volunteered to serve on the crucial Civil Service Commission. But since his son is a part-time police officer, that was viewed as a conflict of interest.
So he applied for the planning commission. And the Borough Council approved his appointment at its July 1 meeting.
Troxell will serve on the commission through Dec. 31, 2015.
