PHILADELPHIA - Michael Vick is on a list of 11 Eagles players who will not travel to Indianapolis Thursday night for the second preseason game, coach Andy Reid said after practice this morning at the team's NovaCare Complex.
It's not a surprising move, especially since Vick is not eligible to play in a preseason game until Aug. 27 against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lincoln Financial Field.
Pro Bowl running back Brian Westbrook, who went through his second day of light practice without pads, also will not travel, but Reid is happy with the progress Westbrook continues to make. He had right ankle surgery in June to remove bone spurs had only been doring strength and conditioning and agility drills until the last two days.
"He's increased his workload every day this week," Reid said. "I've been happy with that I've seen. He's worked hard to get to this point. We'll increase the workload next week."
Other Philadelphia players who will not be traveling to Peyton Manning country for the 8 p.m. game include second-string quarterback Kevin Kolb (left knee sprain), left guard Todd Herremans (stress reaction, left foot), defensive end Trent Cole (AC sprain), cornerback Sheldon Brown (ribs), linebacker Omar Gaither (knee sprain), defensive end Darren Howard (groin strain), defensive end Byan Smith (concussion), right guard Stacy Andrews (precaution) and his brother Shawn Andrews, who had his back examined in California on Monday.
Reid said tests were negative and that everything is positive with Andrews, who he said will not be worked "easily back into things."
The Eagles starters are expected to play at least a half against the Colts with all the backups playing in the second half, Reid said.
The Eagles are 2-0 in preseason games against the Colts.
