Phillies leftfielder Raul Ibanez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain, the team announced Thursday.
The team announced Ibanez would undergo an MRI later today.
Ibanez, the National League’s leading vote getter for next month’s All-Star game, leads the team in batting, (.312), home runs (22), and RBIs (59).
Lehigh Valley’s John Mayberry was called up to replace Ibanez on the Phillies’ active roster, the rightfielder’s second stint in the big leagues this season.
