Tuesday night boys basketball predictions: Big one in Bethlehem

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Big night of games. Still lots to be determined. Here's how we see them turning out. LEHIGH VALLEY CONFERENCE Central Catholic 61, Allen 51 -- Canaries beat the Vikings in overtime in December, but had different personnel back then. Somehow, I expect Allen to keep it close, but there's no stopping CCHS right now. Emmaus 63, Dieruff 49 -- Green Hornets still have an outside shot at LVC tourney, but focus should be on playing well entering districts. Freedom 58, Becahi 49 -- Golden Hawks probably got a boost of confidence from the win over Liberty, but Freedom has been playing as well as anyone over the last month with the exception of CCHS. Parkland 64, Northampton 44 -- Even if Andy Stephens clears the bench early and inserts the JVs, this game will never be competitive. Whitehall 53, Nazareth 49 -- Weave is predicting a 48-42 Blue Eagles win, natch. But I think Zephyrs are on a roll and are determined to stay on it. Liberty 50, Easton 45 -- Game of the night in the LVC and where I will be. Red Rovers will control tempo and keep it close. Just don't know who will be in the lineup for the Hurricanes. If Noack and Oyeniyi are back, they're as good as anybody. COLONIAL LEAGUE Southern Lehigh 56, Saucon Valley 50 -- If the basketball gods have anything to do with it, Bob Shaffer will definitely be a winner in his final home game in charge of the Spartans. Wilson 55, Salisbury 52 -- The game of the night in the Colonial. Should be a dandy. Don't be surprised if they meet again next week in league tourney. Notre Dame 50, Palisades 46 -- The Pirates can still make districts with a win here, and they will give it a great shot. But the Crusaders are playing for a league berth and have too much offense for Palisades to handle. Bangor 70, Northwestern 53 -- Slaters clinch the North Division. Catasauqua 58, Northern Lehigh 51 -- Roughies have superior guard play and if Jarrid Strong plays like he did against Bangor, the Roughies may be, well, as strong as anybody in this league. Pen Argyl 48, Palmerton 43 -- Hopefully, better times are ahead for both programs. MOUNTAIN VALLEY CONFERENCE Stroudsburg 60, ES South 55 -- Can't believe it has been nearly 20 years since Arthur Perryman and Co. had one of the most entertaining teams I've ever seen in local hoops. PM West 55, Lehighton 50 -- Panthers may have just a little too much quickness for Indians, who still can get into districts with a win over Notre Dame-ES. Pleasant Valley 59, PM East 46 -- Congratulations to Bears football standout Dakota Everett on his scholarship to Stony Brook.
