Once upon a time, about 30 years ago, the Philadelphia 76ers were quite relevant on the Philly sports scene. Matter of fact, it was 30 years ago this June that the 76ers won the NBA title.
And, soon after, Charles Barkley came to town and kept things lively for about the next decade until he was traded amind considerable controversy.
Things have changed considerably now. Phillies spring training and NFL combine news is bigger in this region than anything happening with the 76ers in what should be the heart of their seeason.
But a special at 7 p.m. tonight on Comcast SportsNet takes a look at the life and times of Barkley and a different era of 76ers basketball.
Here are the details, courtesy of Comcast SportsNet release:

PHILADELPHIA- (February 14, 2013) – Comcast SportsNet celebrates Charles Barkley’s 50th birthday with an original special, “Barkley at 50,” airing on Wednesday, February 20 at 7 p.m.
